My Malawi can be unpredictable 

like her seasons

My Malawi can be disheartening

like her abuse

My Malawi can be fickle

like her loyalty

My Malawi can be indifferent 

and at times defeatist


My Malawi could do with:

A little more love

A little more pride

A little more warmth 

A little more ambition

A little more foresight

A little more truth

A little more intention 

A little more patience

A little more justice

And a little more 

for the ones with less


My Malawi could do with:

A lot less greed

A lot less jealousy

A lot less envy

A lot less entitlement

A lot less neglect

A lot less pretence

A lot less laxity

A lot less suspicion 

A lot less superstition

And a lot less Nsima


But all in all

My Malawi is here

My Malawi is now

My Malawi is your Malawi, 

Our Malawi

Our Malawi is home

Our Malawi is our amazing 

Mai Malawi

And I am grateful for all that she is

And all that she gives.
